Cobra kai or miyagi do1/1/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() #Cobra kai or miyagi do series#The original series spanned five years and three movies and introduced us to real life themes such as relationships, courage, fear, and love, not necessarily in that order. some of the characters values on the show i can’t stand with because they go against mine.If you were a child of the 80s you were introduced to the satisfying trilogy that is the Karate Kid saga which saw the trials of a skinny kid from Jersey use Karate, taught by Sage and Maintenance Man Mr. It was more characters values then who they were physically or anything. i also like daniel as he is not flawless but doesn’t try to hide his mistakes. so i naturally gravitated toward them and daniel. Personally, miyagi-do values line up with my values. going into s2 and 3 i was also rooting for miyagi-do.towards the end i was rooting for the og cobra kai and robby and who i will be rooting for going into s4 and daniel and demetri because i still like them and miyagi-do. Most people hold on to the 5 seconds and forget that he has a child and continue to say he’s “changed” i also don’t completely blame them since the story focuses on johnny and ck so you have to put in the effort to actually listen to the other side and say “hey, maybe they’re not the bad guys”Īfter doing rewatches and really listening and understanding who these characters are, i made up my mind, miyagi-do. going back and watching the movies reminded me that johnny was the real bully and then they introduced that he abandoned his child, so he lost all empathy for me. i will also admit my place kept changing as i didn’t really have a set side i was on. The show introduces you with johnny and cobra kai and i will admit in the first 5 seconds of the show i felt bad for him. Though, in universe, Miyagi-Do will always be the better way, the right way. Cobra Kai can still be the protagonist and Miyagi-Do and its allies the antagonists. Though, you can also look at it the other way, especially going into S4. Cobra Kai is seen more as the antagonist now, while Miyagi-Do is seen more as the protagonist. In S3, there were shifts in dojo alliances amongst the characters and, in turn, the fans. However, Miyagi-Do and its associated characters were the perceived antagonist in S1-S2 because Cobra Kai and its associated characters were the perceived protagonist. I've always viewed the characters' stories in this show as parallels. Technically, there are no designated protagonists or antagonists. There's also the view of who is the "protagonist" and who is "antagonist". How people express that preference is a different matter. (Silver's return has to mean something.) Anyhow, I think a lot of it just comes down to us all being human and having our preference of character(s). I also think the story will be more interesting if Silver and Kreese have their win next season. It especially got worse for him after the S2 finale. I feel he's the real underdog in the story. His story has always been the most interesting to me. I'd technically always root for Miyagi-Do, but next season, I'm rooting for Cobra Kai (depending on what happens throughout the season). A lot of the dojo preferences are based on the character(s) people root for imo. ![]()
